HTWI PARTNER INFORMATION

Industry, education, and the community cooperate to make Maricopa County one of the best places to find highly skilled employees. The High Tech Workforce Initiative, coordinated by the Center for Workforce Development at the Maricopa Community Colleges
and funded in part by the National Science Foundation, is working with its partners to improve the recruitment and education of highly skilled technicians in manufacturing.

Highlights

Faculty from four colleges and a skill center collaborate with each other and industry and education stakeholders to keep curriculum up to date. The Maricopa Advanced Technical Education Center (MATEC) also provides support for project activities.

An advisory committee oversees the activities of the HTWI. Semiconductor, aerospace and defense, and machining industries are represented among the members, as are K-12 Career and Technical Education and ASU.

Representatives from the National Association of Manufacturers, the Arizona Chapter of the Association of Tooling and Machining, and the Arizona Manufacturing Council collaborate with the HTWI to launch an area marketing campaign, Dream It Do It.
