Faculty Members Propose FPGA Curriculum Validation
As part of the High-Tech Workforce Initiative, two faculty members have proposed validating and updating curriculum currently used in college classrooms in the Maricopa County Community College District (MCCCD). These faculty members, Ui Luu of Glendale Community College, and Bassam Matar of Chandler-Gilbert Community College, are proposing that local engineers and technicians look over the current curriculum to help validate its use. Given the rapidly expanding application of Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) across industry segments, the Maricopa Community Colleges wish to validate current offerings as well as potential new curriculum content. FPGA's are used to change what circuits do in electronics. Engineers and technicians will work with faculty at the MCCCD colleges to review the curriculum needs, both of the current workforce and where innovation and application of this technology seem appropriate. Currently, the faculty members are looking into local industry partners that are interested in helping with this validation. Please contact Jay Kahl at jay.kahl@domail.maricopa.edu for more details.
