Chandler-Gilbert Students Win at Avnet Tech Games!

The Avnet Tech Games (ATG) is an annual college technology competition that provides students with an opportunity to apply what they learn in school to real-world scenarios and compete for scholarships. The Onsite Competition was a one-day event open to Arizona college students and was held on April 10, 2010 at the University of Advancing Technology in Tempe.

Eleven engineering students (4 teams) from Chandler-Gilbert Community College (CGCC) participated in three different competitions. Two CGCC teams were able to achieve FIRST place in the Robot Race Obstacle Course and the Android App Challenge. Each team was led by faculty coach Bassam Matar and students spent hours researching and practicing for the event. Each student on the first place teams received a $1000 check that they can use toward their education as well as possible summer internships.

Other winners included Scottsdale Community College, Glendale Community College, Mesa Community College, Arizona State University, University of Arizona, and University of Advancing Technology.
