Program Highlights: This is an FAA certified program. One degree designed for technicians, another designed for students who want to transfer to a 4-year program.

Electronics Manufacturing Technology

Offered At: Glendale Community College

Typical Core Courses: Basic Electronics, Solid State Electronics, Digital and Logic Circuits, Communications, Electronic Instrumentation

Program Highlights: These courses emphasize systems-level thinking and team-based projects, whether inventing a robotic arm that can launch ping pong balls or programming a microprocessor to play a tune on a keyboard. Classes are taught by an engineer with patents on recent electronic inventions. "Having fun is a mandatory requirement," says Mr. Luu.

Options: Courses are offered online, with compressed 8-week schedules and Saturday face-to-face labs.

Program Highlights: This hands-on, up-to-date program trains students for an industry-recognized certificate that is a basic requirement for entry level soldering jobs.
